\nYemen\u2019s Foreign Minister has called on the United Nations to stop the Houthi abuses of women in the militia\u2019s areas of control.<\/p>\n
In a message addressed to UN Women Executive Director, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, minister Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak said, \u201cYemeni women independently bore the responsibility of securing food, water and medicines to their children while Houthis stole the humanitarian aid and employed it as a war tool.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWomen suffer bitterly because Houthis hijack their children from schools and conscript them to the frontlines \u2026 to fight against the Yemeni people,\u201d he said. \u201cWomen in Houthi areas of control face all forms of abuse including the confiscation of their expression or demonstration freedom. Hundreds of women were thrown up in jails and were subjected to all forms of torture and abuse in jails\u201d after they once tried to protest against the militia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
