The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomes the joint statement issued by the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Australia, and a number of friendly European Union member states regarding the hostile activities carried out by the Iranian regime and its security and intelligence apparatus on the territories of those countries, including acts of intimidation, assassination, abduction, and the targeting of civilians, journalists, and Iranian dissidents.<\/p>\n
The Ministry affirms that this international position reflects a growing awareness of the terrorist nature of the Iranian regime, whose policies are founded on exporting instability, violating the sovereignty of states, and employing militias, armed groups, and intelligence networks to advance its expansionist agenda, thereby posing a direct threat to international peace and security.<\/p>\n
The Ministry further notes that Yemen was among the first countries to suffer from these destabilizing policies through the military, financial, and technical support provided by the Iranian regime to the Houthi terrorist militia, which has evolved into a cross-border military proxy threatening Yemen\u2019s security, international maritime routes, and global trade, while continuing to undermine efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability.<\/p>\n
The Republic of Yemen emphasizes that the conclusions contained in the joint statement necessitate moving beyond political condemnation toward the adoption of more decisive measures to deter the Iranian regime and its proxies. Such measures should include expanding sanctions, disrupting sources of financing and arms supplies, and strengthening international cooperation to counter cross-border destabilizing activities, while recognizing the Houthi militia as an integral component of terrorist networks operating across the region.<\/p>\n
The Republic of Yemen calls upon its friends and partners in the European Union to build upon this important position by adopting more stringent measures against the Houthi militia, designating it as a terrorist organization, and holding accountable all individuals and entities involved in its support, financing, and arming.
