Carlo Baldocci, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand areas of mutual cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting reviewed the longstanding Yemeni-Italian relationship, as the two countries mark the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year, as well as opportunities to enhance coordination and consultations on issues of mutual interest.<\/p>\n<p>On this occasion, the Italian Ambassador presented Minister Al-Zouba with a copy of the book One Hundred Years of Italian-Yemeni Relations, which documents key milestones in the history of relations between the two friendly countries.<\/p>\n<p>The two sides also discussed cooperation in capacity-building and the training of diplomatic personnel, the protection of cultural heritage and the environment, port management, agriculture and fisheries, in addition to Italian initiatives and programmes supporting development and the humanitarian response in Yemen.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Al-Zouba briefed the Ambassador on the latest developments in Yemen, stressing the importance of supporting the government and state institutions and confronting the threats posed by the terrorist Houthi militia to international maritime security.<\/p>\n<p>She also highlighted the militia\u2019s violations against civilians, its obstruction of the work of international organizations and the delivery of humanitarian assistance and vaccines, and its continued detention of United Nations personnel, which have further aggravated the humanitarian situation and increased the suffering of the Yemeni people.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian Ambassador congratulated Minister Al-Zouba on her new responsibilities and conveyed the congratulations of Italy\u2019s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani.<\/p>\n<p>He also extended an invitation for her to meet Minister Tajani on the sidelines of the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and to participate in the Mediterranean Dialogues Forum, reaffirming Italy\u2019s commitment to continuing its support for Yemen and strengthening bilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was attended by Ambassador Jamal Awad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Riyadh Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr Afrah Al-Zouba met today with the non-resident Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Yemen, H.E.
