Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Dr. Afrah al-Zouba held talks today, Monday, with the Non-Resident Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Miles Armitage over the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways to further promote Yemeni-Australian cooperation to serve the mutual interests of the two countries.<\/p>\n

The conversations also covered areas of humanitarian, developmental cooperation and exchanging views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.<\/p>\n
Al-Zouba cited the developments in Yemen amid continuous escalation by the Houthi terrorist militia, noting that their threats in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb have started to affect regional security and international interests
\nThe Foreign Minister expressed the Yemeni government’s gratitude to Australia for its supportive stance towards the government and state institutions, highly praising Australia’s designation the Houthis as a terrorist group.<\/p>\n
She highlighted the importance of continuing international efforts to protect the security of navigation and trade in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb.<\/p>\n
The Australian Ambassador stated that his country’s position on labeling the Houthis, based on Australia’s firm principles regarding terrorist groups.<\/p>\n
