The Republic of Yemen participated Tuesday in a high-level meeting marking the 65th anniversary of the first Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement, held in the Serbian capital, Belgrade.<\/p>\n

In Yemen\u2019s statement to the meeting, Yemen\u2019s non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Serbia Asmahan al-Tawqi reaffirmed Yemen\u2019s commitment to the principles of the Non-Aligned Movement, which are founded on respect for state sovereignty and independence, dialogue and adherence to international law.<\/p>\n

She said the people of Yemen are paying a heavy price as a result of the coup carried out by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia.<\/p>\n

She noted that the group\u2019s escalation inside Yemen, as well as its attacks in the Red Sea and neighboring countries, calls for a sustainable approach to addressing the root causes of these threats, which constitute an extension of the coup and its consequences, including the undermining of state authority and institutions.<\/p>\n

The ambassador also underscored the importance of strengthening state institutions, reaffirming that peace remains the government\u2019s strategic choice\u2014one that should lead to a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace and open the way for Yemenis toward security, stability, and development.<\/p>\n

She further reiterated Yemen\u2019s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.<\/p>\n

She stressed the importance of ending the violence and violations committed by Israeli occupation forces and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
