UN Security Council condemns acts of piracy and attacks on ships by the Houthi militias

The UN Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the recent attacks launched by the terrorist Houthi militia on a commercial ship in the Red Sea.In a statement, Council members pointed to the ongoing threats and previous attacks against oil terminals under the control of the Yemeni government.

The members of the Security Council called for an end to all attacks and actions and the immediate release of the ship MV Galaxy Leader and its crew.

They stressed the importance of navigational rights and freedoms for all ships in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, in accordance with international law, and strengthening international and regional cooperation to confront threats to peace and security in the region.
