Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, has received a congratulatory message from the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, on the occasion of her appointment as Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
Kallas described Dr. Al-Zouba’s appointment as a historic milestone for Yemeni women, coming at a critical moment for Yemen and the wider region amid continued escalation in the Red Sea and mounting regional challenges.
She commended Dr. Al-Zouba’s distinguished record in public service and her dedication to institutional development and peacebuilding. Kallas also reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to supporting Yemen’s sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity, as well as its continued backing for the UN-led peace process and regional initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive and sustainable resolution to the conflict.
She affirmed the European Union’s support for the internationally recognized Government of Yemen in its efforts to advance reforms and address the country’s deteriorating conditions.
She concluded by expressing her commitment to working closely with Minister Al-Zouba to further strengthen Yemen–EU relations, advance de-escalation efforts, and expand cooperation in addressing regional security and humanitarian challenges.
