Aden – SABA:
The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs issued a statement strongly condemning the terrorist attack carried out by the Iran backed Houthi militia using a drone against an electricity distribution station that provides services to the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. The Ministry described the attack as a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the sanctity of Madinah, and a deliberate provocation to Muslims worldwide.
The Ministry affirmed that this attack is part of a pattern that includes the attempted targeting of Mecca and the recent series of assaults on Riyadh, Taif, and other Saudi cities. It exposes the militia’s persistence in violating the sanctity of holy sites and targeting civilians and vital facilities, in flagrant defiance of religious and humanitarian values and international law, revealing the falsity of the religious slogans it hides behind to advance its destructive agenda.
The Ministry noted that this aggressive behavior is consistent with the militia’s record of bombing mosques in Yemen, violating their sanctity, and converting hundreds of them into military barracks. It stressed that attacking a civilian facility serving the Prophet’s Mosque, alongside the continued targeting of residential neighborhoods, civilians, and service facilities in Taiz and other Yemeni governorates, reflects a single terrorist approach that disregards the sanctity of places of worship and civilian life.
The Ministry held the Houthi terrorist militia and the Iranian regime that supports it fully responsible for this attack, affirming that the danger posed by the Houthi coup project extends beyond Yemen’s borders. It stressed that Iran’s continued arming and financing of the militia enables it to use Yemeni territory as a platform to threaten the security of neighboring countries, Islamic holy sites, and international navigation, posing a direct threat to regional and international peace and security.
The Ministry reiterated Yemen’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia—its leadership and people—and its support for the measures taken to protect Saudi security and sovereignty, as well as the actions announced by the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy to deter the Houthi militia and protect the Two Holy Mosques and the safety of pilgrims.
The Ministry called on Arab and Islamic countries and the international community to adopt a firm and unified stance to confront Houthi terrorism, enforce the arms embargo, cut off sources of the militia’s weapons and financing, and support the Yemeni government in restoring state institutions, asserting sovereignty over all national territory, and ensuring that weapons remain exclusively in the hands of the state — steps necessary to end this threat and safeguard the security and stability of Yemen and the region.
