Yemeni Government Condemns Houthi terrorist Attacks in Red Sea

The Yemeni government strongly condemns the continuing terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militias against commercial vessels in the Red Sea and vital waterways, acting on behalf of the Iranian regime and its destructive agenda in the region.

The government stresses that these criminal attacks, for which the Houthis openly claim responsibility, pose a grave threat to maritime security and risk causing devastating environmental disasters. They once again reveal the true nature of this terrorist group, which prioritizes the interests of its backers over those of the Yemeni people and over the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, turning Yemen into a platform for threatening international peace, security, and global energy supplies.

The Yemeni government holds the Houthi militias and the Iranian regime fully responsible for the economic, environmental, and humanitarian consequences of this terrorist escalation, which will deepen suffering, obstruct the delivery of humanitarian aid, and disrupt the flow of essential goods needed by millions across the region. It also warns that this escalation will lead to the militarization of regional waters and further destruction of Yemen’s infrastructure and resources.

In the face of this dangerous escalation, the Yemeni government calls on the international community—foremost the United Nations Security Council and the UN—to take firm action against this hostile behavior, including the designation of the Houthi militias as a terrorist organization, refraining from granting them any political incentives, and deterring Iran’s destabilizing interference in Yemen and the region.

While renewing its commitment to a just and comprehensive peace based on national, regional, and international references, the Yemeni government emphasizes that the success of any effort to end the Houthi terrorist threat depends on supporting the Yemeni Government and its armed forces to restore state institutions and extend full sovereignty over all its national territory.
