Yemen condemns the Iranian interference in the strongest terms.

The Government of the Republic of Yemen strongly condemns the blatant Iranian interference in Yemen’s internal affairs, considering it a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations and relevant Security Council resolutions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that the recent Iranian weapons shipment, intercepted in Yemen’s territorial waters by the National Resistance Forces and the Coast Guard, is merely the latest in a long series of violations by the Iranian regime. This includes its continued arming of the terrorist Houthi militia and its relentless efforts to turn Yemen into a platform for threatening international peace and security and prolonging the suffering of the Yemeni people.

In this context, the repeated attempts by the Iranian government to evade responsibility and cast doubt on well-documented facts — including those reported by the UN Sanctions Committee and international law enforcement agencies — are unconvincing and further expose the Iranian regime’s duplicity in publicly denying its subversive activities while continuing its aggressive expansion through proxies in Yemen and the region.

The Republic of Yemen calls upon the international community, and the Security Council in particular, to shoulder their responsibilities in confronting these serious Iranian violations, and urges the adoption of firm measures to deter the Iranian regime and its destabilizing interference in Yemen and the region.

The Government of Yemen also stresses that the continuous interception of arms shipments by Yemeni armed forces clearly demonstrates Iran’s increasing investment in the terrorist Houthi militia as part of its broader expansionist agenda.
