SABA- VIENNA
Yemen’s Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Haytham Shoja’aadin, addressed the 69th IAEA General Conference, highlighting Yemen’s urgent need for expanded cancer treatment support.

Ambassador Shoja’aadin emphasized that Yemen seeks continued IAEA support for cancer treatment centers, especially under the “Rays of Hope” initiative, which established Yemen’s first radiation therapy center and nuclear medicine unit.

He stressed the urgent need to establish diagnostic and treatment centers in Aden and other Yemeni provinces to improve healthcare services for cancer patients and alleviate their suffering.

The ambassador also condemned Iran’s non-compliance with the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and called for resumed cooperation with the IAEA, while strongly rejecting Houthi militia attacks on Yemeni waters with Iranian backing.

Additionally, he expressed Yemen’s strong support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood, condemning Israeli aggression and blockade in Gaza.
