Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with New UNDP Resident Representative

Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mustafa Noman, met today in the temporary capital, Aden, with the newly appointed Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Noura Hamladji.

The two sides discussed aspects of mutual cooperation, the Programme’s efforts to support the path of recovery and foster stability in Yemen, and the impact of the ongoing escalation by the terrorist Houthi militias on citizens’ lives, along with its repercussions on the economic, humanitarian, and basic services conditions.

The Vice-Minister commended the UNDP’s efforts and its role in supporting the Yemeni government, building state institution capacities, and implementing development projects. He emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination and integration with the government to ensure the alignment of the Programme’s interventions with government priority plans and citizen needs, while focusing on projects with direct, sustainable impact to support recovery, development, and the mitigation of human suffering.

For her part, Ms. Hamladji reviewed the Programme’s recent activities, interventions, and projects scheduled for implementation through 2027. She reaffirmed the UNDP’s commitment to ongoing cooperation and partnership with the Yemeni government to support recovery efforts, institution-building, the achievement of development goals, and the reinforcement of stability.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Muthanna Al-Amri, Head of the Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and from the UNDP side, Nadia Al-Awamleh, Deputy Resident Representative Abdulmonem Mustafa, and the Director of the UNDP Office in Aden.
