FM discusses with Geneva Call’s officials protecting children, women against landmines

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ahmad Awadh Binmubarak discussed Sunday with Operational Director of Geneva Call Hisham Khadhrawi and the Director of the organization’s office in Yemen Dina al-Ma’mon the role of the organization in banning anti-person landmines and protecting children and women over war’s affects.

He confirmed that Yemen signed the treaty of child rights long time ago but Houthi militia is still recruiting children as fighters and human shields, pointing out that protecting woman and child is in the top priorities of the National Dialogue Conference.

He called for activating training youth in coordination with educational institutions, organizations and vocational syndicates.

For his part, Khadrawi reviewed activities and programs sponsored by the organization in Yemen and adopting projects supporting woman and child in areas of armed conflicts and combating spread of anti-person landmines planting.

He pointed out to efforts of the organization for boosting protection international humanitarian principles by non-governmental armed groups and providing support and consultation in this domain.
