Assa’di, Bouzar discuss coordination about UNDP’s projects

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Yemen to the UN Ambassador Abdullah Assa’di held video conference discussions today with the Assistant Secretary General and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States Khalida Bouzar.

The conversations focused on coordination and cooperation between the Yemeni government and the UNDP about mobilizing international efforts to secure resources to increase the UNDP projects in Yemen.

Assa’di detailed Bouzar about the political developments and the humanitarian situations and economic hardships as a result of Iran-backed Houthi militia’s coup and war.

The UNDP’s projects in Yemen were elaborately discussed, mainly the ones intended overhauling Yemeni seaports.
Bouzar stated that the UNDP’s Office in Yemen is the second largest one following Iraq’s with projects portfolio budget estimated at $130 million.

She noted that the work is ongoing on restoring Hodeidah seaport in cooperation with the World Bank and there are plans to repair the two harbors of Aden and al-Muklla in collaboration with Dutch Rotterdam seaport.
