UN Secretary General Assistant Natalia Kanem visits Aden

The UN Secretary General Assistant, the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund Natalia Kanem has called Yemeni parties for active contribution in realizing peace and called upon donors to double their supply for financing the humanitarian response plan in Yemen.

In a press conference she held on Saturday in Aden, Kanem said during her visit to Yemen she will inspect repercussions of humanitarian situation, especially on women and girls and will inspect relief response for alleviating suffering of people under severe conditions and that her visit will cover a number of utilities in Aden.

She renewed continuous efforts of the UN and the fund for providing assistances, especially to women and girls and combating violence based on gender, expressing concern over looming hunger and malnutrition.

She confirmed solidarity with women and girls over difficult conditions, saying that only 20 percent of health utilities provide services to maternity and childhood.

She reviewed UN efforts in Yemen in field of reproductive health assistances, providing support to more half of health facilities, providing protective services, supporting 10 psychological and mental health centers and supporting camps and other assistances.
