President leaves for Saudi Arabia to hold high-level discussions on peace opportunities

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi left today the interim capital Aden today heading to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to hold high-level talks on the sidelines of the Arab-American Summit, which will be hosted in Jeddah next Saturday, in the presence of the American president, leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Egypt and Jordan.

The Presidential Leadership Council chairman’s visit includes important discussions on the Yemeni situation, and the opportunities to extend the existing truce and build on it to achieve peace and stability in the country in accordance with national and regional references and relevant international resolutions.

The President will present the official position on the peace initiatives and the efforts required to push the Houthi militias backed by the Iranian regime to deal seriously with the opportunities to revive the political process in Yemen and end the worst human suffering in the world.

The talks of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council also look forward to strengthening the unified international position on the side of the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership, as well as restoring the momentum of the US and international support for efforts to combat terrorism and secure shipping lanes.
