Yemen’s Ambassador to Italy, Asmahan Al-Toqi, met today with senator Salvatore Caiata, head of the Yemeni-Italian and Saudi-Italian parliamentary friendship groups, alongside senator Marco Osnato, to discuss the latest developments in Yemen and the broader region.
The meeting focused primarily on the threats posed by the terrorist Houthi militia to the security of international navigation in the Red Sea, as well as the resulting challenges to regional security and stability.
During the meeting which was attended by a delegation from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Rome Ambassador Al-Toqi emphasized the critical need to address the root causes of the Yemeni crisis. She highlighted the importance of supporting the Yemeni government’s efforts to restore state institutions and achieve peace, thereby ensuring sustainable security and stability for international maritime traffic in the Red Sea. She underscored that maintaining maritime safety is a shared responsibility requiring enhanced cooperation and coordination among international partners.
