Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba met with Germany’s Ambassador to Yemen, Thomas Schneider, to discuss bilateral relations and opportunities to expand humanitarian and development cooperation.
The meeting also covered developments in Yemen and the region, including the continued military escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi militia, its attacks on commercial vessels, and the threats it poses to international shipping and global trade in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Minister Al-Zouba expressed Yemen’s appreciation for Germany’s support in development, institutional capacity-building, food security, health, water and education. She also highlighted the government’s interest in expanding this partnership to support recovery efforts and improve essential services.
Ambassador Schneider reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to continued humanitarian and development cooperation with Yemen and to supporting efforts to promote security and stability.
