Human Rights Minister calls on UN to help Yemen with capacity building

ADEN-SABA
Minister of Human Rights Mohammed Askar has called upon the United Nations to provide Yemen with capacity-building and technical assistance to enable it to investigate all allegations of human rights abuses.

In a meeting with the visiting UN delegation consisting of the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights Andrew Gilmour and chief of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) branch of the UN Human Rights Office Mohammad Ali Alnsour, in Aden on Tuesday Askar said such support would be highly welcomed to reveal the war crimes and crimes against humanity the Houthis have been committing for years.

Gilmour appreciated the role of the Yemeni government especially the Ministry of Human Rights in promoting cooperation with all human rights organizations. He called for further cooperation to reinforce the protection of human rights and alleviate the severity of the humanitarian burden born by the Yemeni people as a result of the continuing conflict.
