Information Minister, UK Ambassador discuss situations of kidnapped journalists

Minister of Information Mua’mar al-Iryani discussed with UK Ambassador in Yemen MichaelAronon Wednesday latest developments in Yemen and situations of kidnapped journalists in Houthi detention cells, where journalists are subjected to severe torture.

Al-Iryani stressed the UK role in ending Houthi coup and realizing peace based on the three references; the GCC Initiative, the Outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and UN Resolution 2216.

He showed astonishment of international community’s negligence to suffering of the Yemeni journalists and media men at Houthi detention cells, hoping UK pressure on Houthi militia to release journalists.

Confirming government’s keenness for peace, al-Iryani pointed to its efforts of limiting deterioration of the local currency and improving Rial value gradually to its former level to be reflected on the prices of food and fuel.

He pointed to role of Saudi Arabia in helping economy recovery and providing humanitarian and development support to Yemen.

For his part, the UK diplomat renewed his country’s support to Yemen and keenness on stability, security and unity of Yemen, praising government’s announce on participation in peace talks to be held in Stockholm early December.

He confirmed that his country fully supports UN efforts in realizing peace and valued government’s efforts in improving economic situation and normalizing life in liberated areas.
