The newly appointed governors of the governorates of Lahj Murad al-Halimi, of Abyan Dr. Mukhtar al-Rabbash and of al-Dhale Maj. General Ahmed al-Qubba took the constitutional oath today, Saturday, before His Excellency President Dr. Rashad a-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC).
Following the ceremonies, the President met separately with the governors to set the top priorities they should concentrate on in the current stage.
The President urged the governors to double down efforts and devote resources to enhance the presence of state institutions, improve basic services and establish security and stability in their governorates.
His Excellency underlined the importance of working with a spirit of one team alongside the government and central authorities in order to carry out the economic and administrative reform program, boost transparency and control corruption as well as develop infrastructure and basic services in the areas of electricity, water, roads, health and education.
The Chairman of the PLC emphasized the importance of unifying security and military decisions in the governorates of Lahj, Abyan and al-Dhalea.
He urged the governors to closely coordinate with the Ministries of Defense and Interior to establish security and stability, control smuggling and illegal migration.
The governors also are urged to address the problem of encroachment on state lands, remove illegal collection points and ease the citizens’ movement.
