The Republic of Yemen strongly condemns the armed terrorist attack targeting the French battalion of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the south of the sisterly Lebanese Republic. This attack, which resulted in the death of one French soldier and the injury of several others, constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms the Republic of Yemen’s full solidarity with the Lebanese Republic and its support for all efforts and measures aimed at pursuing the perpetrators of these criminal acts and bringing them to justice, in a manner that contributes to enhancing security and stability throughout the country.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates the Republic of Yemen’s appreciation for the vital peacekeeping role played by UNIFIL. It extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the government and people of the friendly French Republic wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
