The Republic of Yemen expresses its condemnation and denunciation, in the strongest possible terms, of the terrorist drone attack targeting Damietta Port in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt. This blatant criminal assault directly targets the security of a sisterly nation and the safety of its vital infrastructure, representing a dangerous escalation that threatens the stability of the entire region, freedom of navigation, and global trade supply chains.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirms the Republic of Yemen’s full solidarity and unwavering stance alongside the Arab Republic of Egypt in confronting all threats to its national security, sovereignty, and stability. The Ministry expressed its absolute confidence in the Egyptian state and its sovereign institutions to safeguard national assets and adopt the necessary measures to deter those behind this cowardly terrorist act.
The Ministry further emphasized that this attack constitutes a direct extension of the pattern of chaos and terrorism sponsored by the Iranian regime in the region, and is a natural outcome of the continued impunity of the regime and its armed proxies from accountability and punishment. Such impunity encourages the expansion of the cycle of violence and blackmail against the regional and international communities, exposing international peace and security to unprecedented risks.
The Republic of Yemen calls upon the international community and the United Nations Security Council to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities by adopting a firmer stance against the sources of terrorist threats in the region, and drying up their sources of funding and armament. This is imperative to ensure the protection of states’ security and sovereignty, and to prevent the recurrence of such attacks targeting the region’s stability and the interests of its peoples.
